Maintain a cleaning regime
Love It Lawns cannot guarantee you won’t get pet odours from your artificial grass as this is down to the customer maintaining a regular cleaning regime. If you have a dog this should be taken into consideration before having artificial grass.
As we all know we are a nation of dog lovers but when it comes to our lawns, they do have an annoying habit of digging holes, constantly tracking mud and dust into our homes and their urine scorches and damages the grass, leaving us all with an unsightly lawn area.
Does not discolour
Replacing our natural lawns with artificial grass is great option to overcome these issues, however, whilst artificial grass has always been suitable for dogs, we have found that in some cases lawns can become quite smelly.
The urine and such itself are harmless to the artificial grass and they will not discolour the fibres; however, if the grass is not cleaned at regular intervals throughout the whole year, even over winter, the animal urine will crystallise, cause ammonia and will start to smell.
Wash grass regularly
We highly recommend that you wash your grass regularly, at least once a week, to help prevent any odours developing. It is also advisable that you use a proper artificial grass Enzyme cleaner or deodoriser, it is very important to continue cleaning throughout the winter months so that the urine doesn’t build up on the fibre.
When considering artificial grass as a dog owner you should always consider that you must have a cleaning regime and continue it all year round.
